Itapoa Project is partially funded by family in Puerto Lopez, the headquarters of Machalilla National Park, right next to the beach. We have a choice of cabins and rooms set in beautiful gardens, resembling a small piece of rainforest!

All rooms have their own private bathroom with hot water and different sizes to accommodate different number of people, from couples to families or friends, as well as, dormitories. Breakfast and taxes included in the price. Take breakfast overlooking the Pacific Ocean!

Here you can also sample and buy our 100% natural Chocolate to Save the Rainforest in a spread or hot chocolate drink and our coffee which is part of our Project to conserve the Choco Forest.

Among others from the hostel it is possible to organize tours to the Isla de la Plata, the 'Poor Man’s Galapagos' to see blue footed boobies amongst other special wildlife in the dry forest on the Island. Whale watching is our highlight from June until September, which we also organize.

We are mentioned in the guide books including the Lonely Planet and Rough Guide.

English, Spanish, and Portuguese are spoken.

SPECIAL SERVICES Mountain biking and Surfing

We offer different sport activities guided by expert people or alone. Learn how to surf with professional surfers from the Hostel or do mountain biking along the paths of the surroundings of the National Park, enjoy Bird watching while you do so. We manage individuals or groups up to 15 people.

We also offer SUV visits to various local sites as well as organized tours to our Rain Forest Reserves or other regions of Ecuador and Colombia.
